Hello! I’m Adrian John, and although you probably wouldn’t believe it for a moment, I actually own a Bongo! Yes, it’s true! (Ask Ian!)
Just because you haven’t heard from me since 1988 doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy! Oh no. For a start I have to keep the Bongo archives in order. And also, I have to present my regular show on Saga Radio!

Member Ian Sparrowhawk of Swansea recently passed away following an industrial accident. He was a top bloke and our thoughts are with his family. See here for obituary, funeral and donation details.

Many thanks to member Pete Anderson who meticulously went through all 200 factsheets to see if the links were working correctly. Everything has now been fixed (I think).

23/07/23: Alternative to Lush Projects
If you go to the Partsouq website, who are a UAE based parts broker, and input your chassis number, you will find the parts diagrams for your particular vehicle. Drill down further by using the “Information” icon and you can get the date of manufacture, paint code, trim code and lots of other useful stuff.

Carol Davidson has been awarded Bongonaut of the Year for 2023 for helping the Bongomaster through the most difficult 6 months of his life. The club wouldn’t still be in existence if it wasn’t for her support. Cheers Carol.

30/06/23: Charity Update
This year’s nominated charity is the International Committe for the Red Cross. I am pleased to announce that including earlier donations, and money raised by a bucket collection at this year’s Bongo Bash, we have raised a total of £3,398.75. Thanks for your support.

…..and it is a fantastic machine at a bargain price. It’s in Sheffield and now re-advertised on the For Sale page.

We have now stopped taking bookings for the Bongo Bash.

New in the Top Tips section there is a recommendation for a firm that can custom build a stainless steel replacement exhaust.

All the quarterly newsletters prior to 2021 have now been archived to save space. In the members area you will find details of how to access these back copies.
10/06/23: Meetings Update
We have now sold 152 pitches for the Bongo Bash in Stourport. The last booking day is Thursday 15th June. The meeting at St Davids is now sold out and a waiting list is in operation. Full details in the members area.
04/06/23: Credit Where Credit Is Due
Pete Wainwright has been in touch to sing the praises of Dave at Barrnsley’s DL Bodyshop. “I went for some minor work and he was brilliant, very meticulous and extremely helpful and knowledgable. 17/05/23: Office Closed
I’ve gone to the Bongo meeting in County Durham and will reopen on Tuesday 23rd May. No membership applications, orders or queries can be processed until I return.
16/05/23: Website/Forum Issues
The Bongo Fury, Bongo Fury Forum and Bongoland websites have been migrated to a new server. Some functions are not available at the present time. This should be resolved early next week.
15/05/23: Bash
We still have availability at the main event in Stourport. Details in the members area.

There have been a number of reports of people unable to log in to the Forum. This is being investigated.

There’s a brand new fact sheet in the members area all about Low Emmisons Zones in Scotland. Glasgow goes live on 1st June with three more to follow next year.

We have discovered that the filler cap on the Bongo is the same as another vehicle’s and you will find the answer in the Bongo Clinic.

23/04/23: Scottish Meeting
There’s no Scottish Bongo Bash this year but there is a weekender in early September in Dumfries & Galloway for subscribers to the Bongo Owners Scotland Facebook Group.

Prices have been announced for the Welsh Bongo Bash which will be held in Pemrokeshire at the end of August. See the members area for ofull details.

We have received reports from members having difficulties when downloading fact sheets. We are aware of this problem. If you want to download a specific file but get an error message email me [email protected] and I will send you a pdf copy.

02/02/23: Revised Opening Hours
Although we can be contacted by email at any time, if you need to phone the Bongo Fury office (0114-2550836) we are now open the following hours only. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 0930 to 1230.
01/02/23: Charity Update
Marianne’s favourite charity was the International Committe for the Red Cross. I am pleased to announce that so far we have raised £2,132 from donations at the funeral and also online via this link. We will keep the donations page open until the end of March.
29/01/23: I’m Still Standing
Despite the recent traumas (see 18/1 below) we are determined to keep going and have taken a delivery of parts from Japan and many (but not all) items in the Bongoland Shop are now back in stock.

Today we say farewell to Marianne Maynard 30 January 1963 to 20 December 2022.

01/01/23: Announcement
It is with profound sadness that I have to announce that my wife Marianne passed away in hospital just before Christmas following a respiratory illness. Obviously myself, her family and close friends are overcome with grief.
I will keep Bongo Fury running but in the short term will be on restricted hours, Monday and Thursday mornings only. We have nearly 2,000 members, many of whome knew Marianne personally, so I would appreciate it if you do not contact me unless absolutely necessary.
